विषया विनिवर्तन्ते निराहारस्य देहिनः।
रसवर्जं रसोऽप्यस्य परं दृष्ट्वा निवर्तते

Transliteration
viṣhayā vinivartante nirāhārasya dehinaḥ
rasa-varjaṁ raso ’pyasya paraṁ dṛiṣhṭvā nivartate
rasa-varjaṁ raso ’pyasya paraṁ dṛiṣhṭvā nivartate
Synonyms
yatataḥ: while endeavoring;
hi: certainly;
api: in spite of;
kaunteya: O son of Kuntī;
puruṣasya: of a man;
vipaścitaḥ: full of discriminating knowledge;
indriyāṇi: the senses;
pramāthīni: agitating;
haranti: throw;
prasabham: by force;
manaḥ: the mind .;
English Meaning
The senses are so strong and impetuous, O Arjuna, that they forcibly carry away the mind even of a man of discrimination who is endeavoring to control them.
