न कर्मणामनारम्भान्नैष्कर्म्यं पुरुषोऽश्नुते।
न च संन्यसनादेव सिद्धिं समधिगच्छति
न च संन्यसनादेव सिद्धिं समधिगच्छति
Transliteration
na karmaṇām anārambhān naiṣhkarmyaṁ puruṣho ’śhnute
na cha sannyasanād eva siddhiṁ samadhigachchhati
na cha sannyasanād eva siddhiṁ samadhigachchhati

kṣaṇam: a moment;

jātu: at any time;

akarma: kṛt — without doing something;
kāryate: is forced to do;
hi: certainly;
avaśaḥ: helplessly;

sarvaḥ: all;
prakṛti: jaiḥ — born of the modes of material nature;
guṇaiḥ: by the qualities .;
English Meaning
Everyone is forced to act helplessly according to the qualities he has acquired from the modes of material nature; therefore no one can refrain from doing something, not even for a moment.
