न हि प्रपश्यामि ममापनुद्या

द्यच्छोकमुच्छोषणमिन्द्रियाणाम्।

अवाप्य भूमावसपत्नमृद्धम्

राज्यं सुराणामपि चाधिपत्यम्

Transliteration

na hi prapaśhyāmi mamāpanudyād
yach-chhokam uchchhoṣhaṇam-indriyāṇām
avāpya bhūmāv-asapatnamṛiddhaṁ
rājyaṁ surāṇāmapi chādhipatyam

Synonyms

sañjayaḥ uvāca: Sañjaya said;

evam: thus;

uktvā: speaking;

hṛṣīkeśam: unto Kṛṣṇa, the master of the senses;

guḍākeśaḥ: Arjuna, the master of curbing ignorance;

param: tapaḥ — the chastiser of the enemies;

na yotsye: I shall not fight;

govindam: unto Kṛṣṇa, the giver of pleasure to the senses;

uktvā: saying;

tūṣṇīm: silent;

babhūva: became;

ha: certainly .;

English Meaning

Sañjaya said: Having spoken thus, Arjuna, chastiser of enemies, told Kṛṣṇa, “Govinda, I shall not fight,” and fell silent.
